Ben Affleck Suggested Possible Incompatibility With Jennifer Lopez Prior to Breakup

Just a few months before rumors of a breakup surfaced, Ben revealed insights into the differing privacy approaches he and Jennifer had.
“I initially had strong boundaries with the press while Jen didn’t object to it like I did,” the Argo star explained in the Grammy nominee’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told released in February. “I objected to it a lot.”
Ben mentioned how the intense scrutiny they faced played a role in ending their engagement in the early 2000s. After rekindling their romance in 2021, he expressed wanting to keep their private life more private.
“When we got back together, I said, ‘I don’t want our relationship on social media,'” he added. “But then I realized it wasn’t fair to ask that. It’s like marrying a boat captain and saying, ‘I don’t like water.’ We’re two people with different approaches trying to find a compromise.”
