Jackie Powers, played by Scott Caan, is a kind-hearted but incompetent hitman who is tasked with taking out a clever debtor, portrayed by J.K. Simmons. Desperate for money to bail his son out of jail, Jackie takes Lola, a bored waitress, as a hostage. Together, they come up with a plan to get cash from Lola’s dying mother, played by Virginia Madsen. Meanwhile, a thug sent to kill Jackie is involved with his ex-girlfriend. With Frank Grillo also starring, this crime comedy is a clever nod to Tarantino and the Coen brothers.
