Evidence that Nastia Liukin was the top supporter of Team USA at the 2024 Olympics
Nastia Liukin decided to trade her place on the podium for a seat in the stands at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Sixteen years after winning five medals, including gold in the individual all-around, at the 2008 Beijing Games, the retired artistic gymnast enjoyed watching the latest athletes representing Team USA. Although she didn’t wear her leotard this time, she made sure to bring her team spirit.
As a former member of Team USA, Nastia became part of a special family, and that bond continues long after the games are over.
“Once you’re part of this family, it’s forever. No matter how much time passes, there’s always a mutual appreciation and respect for each other, knowing the dedication it takes to reach where they are now,” she told People in July. “I am thankful for the sport and the Olympics for giving me these lifelong sisters. And now, I feel like an older sister, passing on that same feeling.”
