Akshay Kumar Exclusively States Tom and Jerry as ‘Not Comedy’ but ‘Violence’; Unveils Drawing Inspiration for Action Scenes from Cartoon
Akshay Kumar is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming film Khel Khel Mein. The trailer of the movie has teased an exciting ride filled with jokes and secrets, set to be released on Independence Day 2024. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Akshay shared his unique perspective on the classic cartoon Tom and Jerry, describing it as violence rather than comedy. He also mentioned drawing inspiration from the cartoon for many action sequences.
Akshay Kumar and the team of Khel Khel Mein recently had an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla. During the discussion, Fardeen Khan expressed his love for the Tom and Jerry cartoons, considering them one of his favorite comedy works.
Akshay added, “No, no. Tom and Jerry is not comedy, Tom and Jerry is action, it’s violence.” He talked about how the action in the cartoon has influenced scenes in his own movies, revealing, “I’ll tell you one secret. Many action sequences I have done were inspired by Tom and Jerry. The helicopter scene, for example, I took from Tom and Jerry.”
He also mentioned being inspired by National Geographic, saying, “Another source of inspiration for me is National Geographic, where you see amazing action. Tom and Jerry is incredible, the kind of action they showcase.”

The cast of Khel Khel Mein includes Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal, Ammy Virk, and Pragya Jaiswal. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Wakaoo Films. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, it is a T-Series Films, Wakaoo Films, and KKM Film production.
The trailer of the film showcases a group of seven friends playing a revealing game, where all their phone secrets are exposed for one night. The songs Hauli Hauli, Duur Na Karin, and Do U Know have been released from the Khel Khel Mein album.
This comedy drama is set to hit theaters on August 15 and will compete with Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, as well as Vedaa featuring John Abraham and Sharvari in action.
