Nina Dobrev Provides Progress Update on Recovery from Dirt Bike Accident: ‘I’m Slightly Ahead of Schedule’
Nina Dobrev is seeing great progress in her recovery from a dirt bike accident earlier this year. Speaking at the Shiseido Blue Project’s 4th Annual Beach Clean-Up in Huntington Beach, California on August 7, the 35-year-old actress shared insights into her healing journey.
“I think I’m doing pretty well,” Dobrev mentioned. She surprised her doctors with her quick recovery but acknowledged that the road to full recovery is still a long one, according to PEOPLE.
In May, Dobrev had a dirt bike accident that resulted in a torn ACL, a meniscus tear, and a fractured tibial plateau. “I didn’t realize it meant nine months to a year of recovery,” Dobrev confessed.
Currently, she is about three and a half months into her recovery. “So there’s still a ways to go,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of patience to avoid re-injury by resuming activities too quickly.
Throughout her recovery, Dobrev has been supported by her boyfriend, Shaun White, the former professional snowboarder and skateboarder. White’s attentive care was especially evident during their recent trip to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
“I mean, especially the Olympics,” Dobrev expressed her gratitude for White’s support, highlighting how he went above and beyond to make the trip easier for her. She has been candid about her healing journey on social media, updating her followers as she progresses.
In a recent Instagram post on July 28, she shared playful updates on her recovery progress, drawing inspiration from Olympian Lindsey Vonn’s openness about her knee surgery. Dobrev remains optimistic about her recovery, recognizing the need to slow down and prioritizing her wellbeing.
