List of Nominees for the 2024 MTV VMAs Voting
Taylor Swift and Post Malone are the leading nominees at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, with both artists riding high off the massive success of their collaboration on the song “Fortnight.”
Swift, for the second consecutive year, dominates the nominations at the VMAs, scoring 10 in total. The singer-songwriter’s song “Fortnight” has secured eight nominations, including video of the year, song of the year, best collaboration, best direction, best cinematography, best editing, best visual effects, and best direction. Swift is also nominated for artist of the year and best pop. She won 9 awards from 11 nominations at the 2023 VMAs, including artist of the year and video of the year for “Anti-Hero.”
A close second is Post Malone, with the rapper receiving 9 nominations. Like Swift, for “Fortnight” Post Malone is also nominated for video of the year, song of the year, best collaboration, best direction, best cinematography, best editing, best visual effects, and best art direction. The rapper also scored another best collaboration (this time with country music singer Morgan Wallen) for the Billboard No.1 song “I Had Some Help.”
Ariana Grande received six nominations, with her song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” scoring nods for video of the year, best direction, best cinematography, and best editing. She also received a best visual effects nominations for “The Boy Is Mine” as well as a nod for artist of the year.
Sabrina Carpenter’s 2024 keeps getting better, with the singer receiving six VMA nominations, including artist of the year and best pop. Carpenter’s earworm song “Espresso” was nominated for song of the year and also best editing, and the Barry Keoghan-starring “Please Please Please” secured nods for best direction and best art direction.
“Houdini,” the lead single from Eminem’s comeback album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) can now add six VMA nominations alongside the litany of other accolades it has received. The song secured nominations for video of the year, best direction, best editing, and best visual effects and the rapper was nomination for artist of the year and best hip hop.
Other big acts with multiple nominations include Megan Thee Stallion (5), SZA (5), LISA (4), Teddy Swims (4), Dua Lipa (3), Benson Boone (3), Anitta (3), Tyla (3), and GloRilla (3).
For the 2024 VMAs, 29 artists secured nominations, including Benson Boone, Chappell Roan, Coco Jones, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, Jessie Murph, LE SSERAFIM, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, RAYE, Teddy Swims, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Tyla, Tyler Childers, and Victoria Monét.
As with last year’s event, fans can vote in 15 gender-neutral categories, including video of the year, best collaboration, and artist of the year. Fans can vote by visiting vote.mtv.com through Aug. 30. Voting for best new artist will remain active up until the show on Sept. 10. Nominations for social categories will be announced at a later date.
The VMAs return to New York and will take place at Long Island’s UBS Arena on Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
