Trailer for the Intense Psychological Film “Hoard”: Joseph Quinn’s Love for Traumatized Saura Lightfoot-Leon Unfolds
Joseph Quinn is making a name for himself in the movie industry. Known for his role in Stranger Things, he has already appeared in A Quiet Place: Day One and will be starring in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four alongside Pedro Pascal. Quinn is now taking on a lead role in the indie film Hoard.
The trailer for the film, released by Sunrise Films, offers a glimpse into Maria’s troubled relationship with Michael and the influence of her mother on her hoarding habits. The movie portrays the chaotic world in which Maria lives, shaped by her mother’s mental health issues and past trauma.
The story of the movie revolves around a young girl named Maria living in London in 1984, dealing with her mother’s hoarding tendencies. When everything falls apart one night, the story jumps to Maria’s teenage years, now living with her foster mother and forced to confront her past when a stranger arrives.
The official synopsis of Hoard reads: “Following young girl Maria (Lily-Beau Leach) in London in 1984 as she navigates her mother’s hoarding obsession. One night, their world falls apart, and we join Maria a decade later, living with her foster mother. Flashing forward to her teenage years, she (Lightfoot-Leon) must confront her late mother’s madness and trauma when a stranger (Quinn) appears.”
The film also features Deba Hekmat, Hayley Squires, and Samantha Spiro and is written and directed by Luna Carmoon. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2023, where it received three awards, and was also shown at various other film festivals.
Hoard is produced by Loran Dunn, Helen Simmons, and Andrew Starke, with backing from production companies Delaval Film, Erebus Pictures, and Anti-Worlds, funded by the BFI and BBC Film. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, winning multiple awards.
In addition to Hoard, Quinn will be starring in Bret Easton Ellis’ directorial debut, Relapse. The movie follows Quinn’s character as he witnesses a traumatic event at a party and undergoes rehab to confront his inner demons. Ellis, famous for his novels American Psycho and The Rules of Attraction, is also adapting his book The Shards into an HBO series.
Hoard is set to be released in select theaters on September 6, 2024.
