Simone Biles Appears to Criticize MyKayla Skinner Following Olympic Victory
MyKayla, who is 27 years old, caused controversy with her remarks in a video where she suggested that the U.S. Center for SafeSport, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending abuse in sports, was partly responsible for what she perceived as a lack of effort.
She stated, “Coaches can’t push athletes and they have to be extremely cautious with their words. While this can be beneficial in some ways, in the world of gymnastics, you sometimes need to be assertive and intense to reach your goals.”
Following strong criticism online, MyKayla issued an apology, explaining that her comments had been “misconstrued or taken out of context.”
