Shobana: From child artist to an evergreen leading lady
Shobana made her debut in showbiz in 1980 with the Tamil movie “Mangala Nayagi.” She started as a child artist in “Manmatha Ragangal” and the Telugu film “Bhakta Dhruva Markandeya.”
At just 14, she transitioned into a lead actress with the film “April 18,” directed by Balachandra Menon and starring veteran actors like Adoor Bhasi and Bharat Gopy.
Shobana quickly became a popular actress with roles in Tamil and Malayalam films, starring opposite top actors like Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, and Mammootty.
She also appeared in Telugu films alongside actors like Nagarjuna Akkineni and Chiranjeevi. In the 1990s, she delivered memorable performances in iconic films across South Indian languages.
In recent years, Shobana has focused more on selective film roles and her dancing career, featuring in Hindi and English films as well.

Shobana’s personal life
Shobana was born on March 21, 1970, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She is the niece of the famous Travancore sisters – Lalitha, Padmini, and Ragini, who were renowned dancers and actresses.
She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and runs a dance school. Shobana adopted a daughter in 2011, embracing single motherhood.
