How Riddhima Kapoor Discusses Her Family’s Response to the Passings of Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, Emphasizing Unity
The Kapoor family is a legendary Bollywood family that has been a part of the Hindi film industry for over 95 years. From Prithviraj Kapoor to Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, the family has produced talented actors for four generations since 1929.
Recently, the Kapoor family faced the loss of two veterans, Rishi Kapoor (2020) and Rajiv Kapoor (2021), from the third generation within a year. Rishi’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor, has shared how the family has dealt with these losses.

In a recent interview with Anushka Arora on her YouTube channel, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni opened up about the passing of her father, Rishi Kapoor, and uncle, Rajiv Kapoor, and how the family has come together during this difficult time.
“We have all become closer since then, looking after each other a bit more. It has brought the family closer and united us. With many family members passing on, we have all grown closer and more connected,” Riddhima shared.
She added, “We call each other every other day, stay in touch through FaceTime. We don’t have to meet every day, but we make sure to remain in contact.”

Riddhima also discussed the new additions to the Kapoor family, Ranbir Kapoor’s wife, actress Alia Bhatt, and their daughter, Raha. She affectionately referred to Raha as “strawberry,” while Raha called her “boo.” Riddhima shared that her daughter, Samaira Kapoor, calls her brother Ranbir Kapoor “RK.”
She mentioned that she had encouraged Samaira to call him “mamaji” or “uncle,” but Ranbir preferred to be called by his initials.
Riddhima Kapoor’s tribute to Rishi Kapoor
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni often shares memories of her late father, Rishi Kapoor, on Instagram. In 2022, she posted a framed picture of him to commemorate his birth anniversary.
Following his passing in 2020, Riddhima mourned the loss of her father on Instagram, expressing her deep sorrow and missing his daily FaceTime calls.
Rishi Kapoor, known for his iconic roles in various films, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2018. He passed away on April 30, 2020, after battling breathing difficulties.
Rajiv Kapoor, who suffered a heart attack in February 2021, was staying with his brother, Randhir Kapoor, at the time of his passing. He was known for his performance in the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985) and made his final appearance in the film Toolsidas Junior (2022).
