A new Karate Kid movie is set to hit theaters after the conclusion of Cobra Kai’s sixth season, which will be released in five-episode chunks. The upcoming film will star Macchio alongside the original Karate Kid actor and legend Jackie Chan, who previously appeared as a martial arts master in the 2010 remake with Jaden Smith.
“Jackie Chan is a legend, and just having the opportunity to work with him was thrilling. He was fantastic,” said Macchio about his experience working with Chan in the upcoming film, scheduled for release in 2025. The actor also praised Chan’s childlike enthusiasm on set. “He loves being on set, and it felt like his first day every day,” he remarked.
While the movie is still in the early stages of production, Macchio is excited to see where the story will go. He also hinted at “a great young cast” in the film. “We’ll see where it takes us,” he added.

While he will miss collaborating with them, he believes they will team up on another creative project. “For me, it’s not goodbye forever. It’s more like see you next time,” he said.
Cobra Kai Part 1 premiered on July 18, Part 2 is set to premiere on November 15, and the third and final part of Season 6 will arrive in 2025.
