Hindustani 2, directed by S. Shankar, has concluded its run at the Hindi box office in its first week with disappointing results. Despite reuniting the acclaimed Tamil director with Kamal Haasan after nearly three decades, Hindustani 2 fell short of expectations. Starring Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh, the political drama only managed to earn Rs. 5.05 crore in its initial seven-day run.
Hindustani 2 First Week Box Office, earns Rs. 30 lakh on Day 7
Following a lackluster performance at the start, the Kamal Haasan starrer saw a sharp decline on its first Monday and failed to recover. Opening at Rs. 1.25 crore, Hindustani 2 dropped by 68% on Monday, bringing in only Rs. 40 lakh. It continued to struggle throughout the weekdays and suffered another 25% drop on Day 7. The film is expected to make Rs. 30 lakh on Thursday, totaling Rs. 1.65 crore for the weekdays.
The total collection of Hindustani 2 for the first week stands at Rs. 5.05 crore. It may add a little more if it’s lucky, but it’s unlikely to surpass the box office performance of the original film, Hindustani, released in 1996.

Negative Talk Sealed Hindustani 2’s Box Office Fate
Hindustani 2 faced strong negative reviews right from its premiere, sealing its fate early on. Despite attempts to trim the runtime by 20 minutes and release a revised version, it failed to resonate with audiences.
The successful collaboration of S. Shankar and Kamal Haasan with Indian (1996), which earned Rs. 58 crore in India (equivalent to Rs. 800 crore today after inflation adjustment), did not translate into box office success for the sequel. Hindustani 2 is projected to finish with a worldwide gross of under Rs. 150 crore, making it one of the underperforming sequels to blockbuster films in Indian cinema.
