Dick Van Dyke Discusses the 46-Year Age Difference With His Wife Arlene Silver
The yoga instructor has confessed that she previously held negative views towards couples with significant age differences, until she found love with an actor who is 26 years older than her.
“Alec and I often feature on lists of ‘Celebrities with the Biggest Age Differences’ and similar compilations,” she shared on her podcast Witches Anonymous in 2022. “I used to look at those lists and assume that the older man just wanted a young, naïve partner without any opinions, while the younger woman must have been after his money and not genuinely interested in him.”
However, her perspective has evolved over time.
“Now that I am in a similar relationship and face similar criticisms, I realize how wrong my previous judgment was,” she reflected. “Why did I hold such prejudiced views towards people who were simply seeking love? Their love may differ from mine or what I expected, but it is still valid.”
