Margot Robbie Addresses Pregnancy Speculations: What The Barbie Star Has Revealed About Motherhood
Australian star Margot Robbie has been busy since finishing up The Barbie Movie. She is producing with LuckyChap Entertainment along with her husband and business partner, Tom Ackerley. Recently, on July 2, Margot celebrated her 34th birthday while vacationing in Lake Como with her husband.
Rumors suggest that Robbie is pregnant with her first child. The couple, married since 2016, has sparked speculation from fans about this for some time. They have been private about their personal lives, with Robbie often expressing frustration when asked about babies and family planning.
Margot Robbie on the pressure of having kids
The news of Margot Robbie’s pregnancy came after pictures of the couple on vacation in Italy emerged, showing Robbie proudly displaying her baby bump. While there has been no official comment on the pregnancy from either Robbie or Ackerley, sources close to them have confirmed the news to People magazine.
Although Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley becoming parents is significant news, the actress has previously spoken about the pressures women face in societal expectations.
In an interview with the Radio Times in January 2019, Robbie expressed frustration, saying, “I got married, and the first question in almost every interview is, ‘Babies? When are you having one? I’m so angry that there’s this social contract. You’re married, now have a baby. Don’t presume. I’ll do what I’m going to do.”
In November 2018, Robbie shared in a PORTER magazine interview that she was not ready to have children. “No! Definitely not,” the actress stated.
Margot Robbie wants to have “tons of children”
Margot Robbie has expressed her desire to become a mother and indicated that she and Tom want to have multiple children. “If I’m looking into my future 30 years from now, I want to see a big Christmas dinner with tons of kids there,” she mentioned.
“I want TONS of children,” Robbie revealed to Sunday Style. “Well, maybe not too many,” she added humorously. “I grew up in a family of four [kids], so that sounds like a good number. We’ll see what happens; no time soon. I know that once I have kids, they’ll be my priority, so I want to do the family thing later.”
While currently living in the United States, having a baby could lead to a move back to Robbie’s homeland of Australia. The Oscar-nominated star has also shared her hopes of settling down, stating, “The kids will be in Australia.” Robbie grew up in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, and during an interview last year, she talked about her love for the outdoors and her childhood experiences in Australia.
The couple first met in 2013 on the set of the film Suite Française. They got married in December 2016 in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia. Prior to their wedding, they kept their engagement a secret.
