Riteish Deshmukh compares his performances in Tujhe Meri Kasam and Pill on the big screen and OTT platforms: ‘I have improved in my craft’
Riteish Deshmukh made his acting debut in 2003 with Tujhe Meri Kasam and has since been active in the Indian film industry. Now, he is making his OTT debut with Pill after working in Hindi and Marathi cinema.
Excited for his debut web show, the actor also reflected on the difference between his big screen debut two decades ago and his OTT debut.
Riteish Deshmukh says he didn’t know what he was doing when he debuted in 2003
As Riteish Deshmukh prepares to enter the web streaming platform with Pill, he recalls his big screen debut in Tujhe Meri Kasam. In an interview with DNA, he admitted that at that time, he didn’t really know what he was doing. “It was just a new energy; we did what we had to do,” he said.
However, his OTT debut comes with a different level of experience. The Total Dhamaal actor believes he has improved in his craft with a deeper understanding of filmmaking.

In the same interview, Riteish expressed his eagerness to work in the OTT space for a long time but struggled to find the right script and subject. That’s when producer Ronnie Screwvala and director Raj Kumar Gupta collaborated on “Pill”, a show that Riteish describes as a “clutter-breaker.”
Discussing online streaming platforms, Riteish believes that the OTT format is here to stay and offers filmmakers more freedom to create content without rushing. He noted that actors are getting better opportunities and makers are recognizing talent more. “Pill” will be available on Jio Cinema starting July 12.
