Express Yourself singer Madonna made a statement at the LadyLand Pride Festival in Brooklyn, New York City on June 29th. She served as a judge for the Vogue Ball House Battle at the event. After announcing the results, she addressed the crowd, thanking them for their presence.
“Thank you all for coming out. Aside from my birthday, New York Pride is the most important day of the year,” she declared. The Grammy-winning singer appreciated the performers for their dance moves and her fellow “incredible judges” for their support.
She also gave a special shoutout to the judges’ panel, which included Arca, Bob the Drag Queen, Tokischa, and Sevdaliza, and expressed her gratitude towards New York City. “Without you, I am nothing,” she added. Additionally, the event was made extra memorable for Madonna as her preteen daughter Estere DJed before the Vogue runway contest.
Madonna shares posts honoring Pride month
Although Madonna was not officially on the guest list for the Pride Festival, rumors circulated after hints from the event organizer, Ladyfag.
Ladyfag teased a video of Madonna and captioned it, “We don’t respond to ru-M-ors. But we are sooooo excited to add a moment to celebrate ballroom excellence with some very special guest judges.”
Later, Madonna posted a picture of herself wrapped in a rainbow flag, showing support for the LGBTQ community and announcing her participation in the LadyLand Festival. “NYC Pride Weekend coming up……” she wrote on Instagram. “Are you ready?!”
This marked her first live stage appearance since her Celebration Tour, which covered 15 countries and ended two months ago. She also hosted a free show at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana beach, setting a record by performing for the largest crowd of 1.6 million people.
