The groundbreaking history being made by RHONY’s new season 15 housewife
The Real Housewives of New York City is expanding.
Bravo announced on June 27 that former model and LGBTQ art curator Racquel Chevremont is joining the cast for season 15.
This addition to the reality series at the age of 53 is a significant milestone as it will be the first time any Real Housewives franchise will feature two queer Housewives. (Costar Jenna Lyons is also queer.)
“My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to amplify the voices of queer folks of the diaspora,” expressed Chevremont, who is a co-founder of The Josie Club, a Black, queer, women-supported social impact group, in an interview with GLAAD. “What better way to do so than as a member of this iconic franchise.”
“In the current world climate, it is crucial not only for our community to see themselves represented, but also for the world to understand a queer family on a more personal level and recognize that we all share more similarities than differences,” stated the Brooklyn-born star. “Queer women can be successful, beautiful, and in loving relationships while raising children too. This reality exists.”
