Royal Website Deletes Announcement of Prince Harry’s Relationship with Meghan Markle
The royal family is currently organizing its archives.
It seems that Prince Harry’s impactful statement from 2016, which not only confirmed his relationship with Meghan Markle but also stood up for her against racist attacks, is no longer accessible on the royal family’s website.
Although the statement from November 8, 2016 can still be located using the royal domain’s search feature, the link that directs users to the statement itself is broken, as reported by multiple outlets. E! News has contacted representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Palace for a comment on this issue.
During the time when rumors about Harry and Meghan’s relationship were circulating and causing negative publicity for the Suits actress, Jason Knauf, the communications secretary at Kensington representing Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, released a rare and passionate statement defending Meghan.
The statement read, “Meghan Markle has been subjected to a barrage of abuse and harassment, some of which has been very public—such as negative headlines in national newspapers, racial undertones in opinion pieces, and direct sexism and racism from social media trolls and online comments.”
