Maria Shriver Criticizes Harrison Butker for Graduation Speech
Maria Shriver is voicing her disapproval of Harrison Butker‘s recent statements.
The journalist shared her thoughts on the Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s controversial commencement address at Benedictine College, where he suggested that women should prioritize their roles at home over their careers.
“What message was Harrison Butker really trying to convey to women during his graduation speech?” Maria pondered on social media on May 16. “Did he genuinely want women, including myself, to believe that our lives only truly begin when we focus on being wives and mothers?”
“While everyone is entitled to freedom of speech in our country,” she added, “those of us women who have a platform can also express our disagreement with Butker.”
Maria, who has children Katherine, 34, Christina, 32, Patrick, 30, and Christopher, 26 with former husband Arnold Schwarzenegger, also reflected on her own experience juggling her career as a journalist and her responsibilities as a mother.
