Breaking the Rules: The 2024 Met Gala Celebrity Selfies You Need to See
Pics or it didn’t happen.
Some Met Gala attendees may have had this mindset when deciding to sneak in a selfie or two during this year’s soirée on May 6, despite the rumored ban. With the stunning fashion for “The Garden of Time” dress code, can you really blame them?
At the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Ayo Edebiri took a picture with Nicholas Galitzine, Kaia Gerber, Troye Sivan, and Rachel Sennott, while Cardi B shared a close-up of her incredible look at her table. Lizzo decided to take a Met Gala bathroom selfie, and Uma Thurman and Stella McCartney joined in on the fun.
If you’re unaware of the reported no-selfie rule, here’s some background: Nine years ago, Page Six reported that guests of the 2015 Met Gala were informed that the use of phones for photography and social media would not be permitted inside the gala.
Although Vogue has not confirmed or denied the rumored restriction, fans may not be too surprised considering Vogue’s Global Editorial Director Anna Wintour has expressed her aversion to selfies.
