Unique Celeb Baby Names That Will Leave You Wanting Them
Elon Musk revealed his and Grimes‘ baby boy X Æ A-12 to the public on Twitter in May 2020. They later adjusted the spelling of his name to comply with California’s legal requirements, which only allow letters from the English alphabet. Transitioning to Roman numerals, the couple agreed to write his name as X Æ A-Xii.
“X, the unknown variable,” Grimes explained on Twitter. “Æ, my elven version of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence) A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Excellent in battle, yet non-violent.”
Grimes added, “A=Archangel, my favorite song,” alongside a rat and sword emoji. “Metal rat.”
In March 2022, she announced the arrival of their daughter Exa Dark Sideræl Musk through a surrogate.
“Exa is a nod to the supercomputing term exaFLOPS (the ability to perform 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second),” she explained. “Dark signifies ‘the unknown. People dread it but really it’s the absence of photons. Dark matter is the stunning enigma of our universe.'”
Sideræl—pronounced “sigh-deer-ee-el”—represents “the true time of the universe, star time, deep space time, not our relative earth time,” she elaborated, and pays tribute to her favorite Lord of the Rings character, Galadriel, who “decides to relinquish the ring.”
