Skai Jackson Opens Up About Her Relationship With Her Jessie Costars
Following her roles as Ren Stevens in Even Stevens, Kim Possible, and in Cadet Kelly alongside Hilary Duff, Christy Carlson Romano transitioned to Broadway with a 31-week stint as Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in 2004. She later returned to Broadway in 2008 for Avenue Q.
In addition to her acting career, she authored the novel Grace’s Turn in 2007, directed the film Christmas All Over Again in 2016, and obtained a degree in Film Studies from Barnard College. Christy married writer-producer Brendan Rooney on December 31, 2013, and they have two daughters.
Christy made a comeback to her roots in 2019 with a role in the live-action Kim Possible film, portraying pop star Poppy Blu. She also shared her struggles post-stardom in a candid essay for Teen Vogue. “I have never been perfect or pulled together as my reputation or the success of my young adulthood might suggest,” she revealed. “During a period of time in my life, I grappled with depression, drinking, and more, desperate to find fixes for how I felt.”
