After the Rio Games, Douglas took a break from the mat and transitioned into a prominent TV and media personality. She released her memoir Grace, Gold, and Glory in 2012, was the inspiration for the 2014 Lifetime movie The Gabby Douglas Story, and appeared with her family in the unscripted series Douglas Family Gold on Oxygen.
Her television presence expanded with roles in Kickin It and Undercover Boss, and she emerged as the winner of The Masked Dancer in 2020.
In 2024, she made a comeback announcement to the sport, expressing her ambition to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
