Al Pacino Speaks Out About Oscars Controversy Surrounding Best Picture Announcement
Usually, the presenter for Best Picture category goes through all the nominees before revealing the winner. However, Pacino decided to skip this tradition and announced, “Ten wonderful films were nominated, but only one will take the award for Best Picture—and I have to go to the envelope for that.” He then declared the winner as “My eyes see Oppenheimer.”
Fans had mixed reactions to this unconventional approach taken by the Academy.
“Most anti-climatic Best Picture announcement ever,” expressed one Oscars viewer on X. “I wanted to see all of the nominees.” Another humorously remarked that Pacino’s presentation style was an “Oscar worthy performance in its own right.”
