Chris Christie criticizes Donald Trump, Taylor Swift conspiracy theories
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie spoke out against the conspiracy theories surrounding Taylor Swift, comparing them to the kind of misinformation spread by Donald Trump.
There have been rumors among prominent GOP commentators and Republicans that Swift is a Democratic plant intended to influence the 2024 presidential election in favor of President Joe Biden. Christie dismissed these theories as “outrageous” and “ridiculous” during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
“Taylor Swift is one of the great American success stories. We should be celebrating her, not having all these crazy conspiracy theories. But this is the kind of thing that Donald Trump brings about,” said Christie, who recently ended his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
The singer has also faced accusations related to her personal life and political affiliations, with some people claiming she is trying to influence the Super Bowl in support of her boyfriend’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as facing criticism for her endorsements of Democratic candidates and opposition to Republicans.

In addition to discussing the Taylor Swift theories, Christie criticized former President Donald Trump’s comments about NATO, saying that they demonstrated his unfitness for office. Trump had questioned whether the United States would come to the aid of NATO nations if they were attacked by Russia, leading to Christie’s condemnation of the statements as “absolutely inappropriate” and “consistent with his love for dictators.”
“It’s right for a president to say to a NATO member ‘Hey, you’ve got to pay the dues you need to pay.’ I think the American people would expect that of a president. But the problem with Donald Trump is he can’t just stop there,” Christie said.
