Jessica Capshaw to Reprise Role on Grey’s Anatomy for Season 20
Grey’s Anatomy is welcoming back a familiar face.
Jessica Capshaw will return to the medical drama for its upcoming 20th season, reprising her role as pediatric-turned-fetal surgeon Dr. Arizona Robbins. This comeback comes six years after she departed from the series.
However, her return will be brief: Capshaw is set to appear as a guest star in one episode, as announced by ABC on Feb. 10 during the Television Critics Association’s winter 2024 press tour in Pasadena, Calif., according to Variety.
Prior to the official announcement, the actress teased her return on her Instagram Stories, saying, “So much, coming soon…”
Capshaw first appeared on Grey’s Anatomy in season five in 2008. Her departure from the show in 2018, after the season 14 finale, surprised fans. The episode depicted her character leaving Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and Seattle to move to New York in hopes of reuniting with her partner, Callie Torres (played by Sara Ramirez, who exited Grey’s Anatomy at the end of season 12), with whom she shares daughter Sofia.
