Luv Ranjan reveals Ranbir Kapoor’s dissatisfaction with 37 takes in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar: ‘Don’t settle for okay’
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar marked the first collaboration between Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The romantic comedy directed by Luv Ranjan was a huge success, ranking as one of the top-grossing Hindi films in 2023. However, the journey to success was not without its challenges. Ranjan revealed in a recent interview that Kapoor took 37 takes for a single scene in the film.
Prior to working on Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Ranjan had discussions with Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor for another project that didn’t materialize. Despite this setback, they eventually came together for the rom-com. Ranjan shared that after several talks, they both felt that collaborating on this film was the right decision.
During the filming process, Ranjan noted several interesting incidents, including the 37 takes taken by Kapoor for a scene. Despite the multiple retakes, Kapoor remained dedicated to getting the scene right and offered to do more takes if needed.
Ranjan also explained his choice of casting Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead Tinni, citing her simple and homely image as a perfect fit for the character. He praised her performance in the film, along with the contributions of other actors like Dimple Kapadia and Hasleen Kaur.
In addition to the main cast, the movie featured cameo appearances from Kartik Aaryan and Nushrratt Bharuccha. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar also marked the acting debut of Boney Kapoor and Anubhav Singh Bassi.
