Akshay Kumar will make a cameo in the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, says Aneez Bazmee: “I don’t even need to…”
Kartik Aaryan, as the lead actor of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, elicited a range of responses from audiences. While some felt that Akshay Kumar should not have been replaced in the horror-comedy series, Kartik’s fans rejoiced at the news and showed enthusiasm for him carrying on the franchise’s tradition. In a recent interview, director Anees Bazmee finally addressed the possibility of Kumar making a cameo in the franchise, stating ‘I don’t even need to think twice before doing that’.
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Anees Bazmee expressed his eagerness to approach Kumar for a potential cameo in the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. He mentioned that he feels comfortable reaching out to Akshay at any time without hesitation, highlighting the fondness he has for him.
Anees pointed out that he believes he has the right to approach Akshay and could convince him to take on a role in his films. He acknowledged that very few people share that kind of bond with him. He also stated that if a character or cameo suits Akshay, he would be open to accepting it.
Anees also explained that Akshay was unable to be part of the sequel for undisclosed reasons. He noted that neither the producers nor he wanted to pressure Akshay to stay involved under those circumstances.
The director then reflected on the mixed reactions to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, noting that while the film’s strengths were well-received, many viewers and industry insiders doubted its success.
He recalled that when Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released, it faced numerous challenges. Despite the positive feedback on the teaser, there was a prevailing belief that the film would not do well.
Anees mentioned that when the trailer came out, many praised it as fantastic but had reservations about the film’s box office performance.
Discussing this, Anees said, “Akshay ji was so remarkable in Bhool Bhulaiyaa that the idea of a sequel without him was daunting. However, we made Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with sincerity and passion with the available resources. After its release, audiences appreciated Kartik just as much as they had admired Akshay ji.”
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 starring Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2024.
