Dion revealed that she had recently been diagnosed with a “very rare” progressive neurological disorder known as stiff-person syndrome, likely unfamiliar to most people.

Speaking in an Instagram video, she stated, “I’ve always been transparent about my life. Though I wasn’t prepared to share earlier, I feel ready now. Managing persistent health issues has been incredibly challenging for me, and discussing my journey hasn’t been easy.”

Describing how the muscle spasms had a significant impact on her daily routine, Dion disclosed that they made simple tasks, like walking, difficult at times. Sadly, this meant she would not be able to return to touring as initially planned.

She expressed her dedication to regain her strength and performance abilities with the help of her sports medicine therapist, despite acknowledging the struggles involved in the process.

As outlined by the National Institutes of Health, symptoms of stiff-person syndrome include stiffness in the torso, arms, and legs, along with heightened sensitivity to noise, touch, and emotional stress, all contributing to the occurrence of muscle spasms.
