Throwback: Vijay Sethupathi opens up about why he couldn’t pursue his crush who was in love with SRK
Vijay Sethupathi surprised everyone by teaming up with Atlee for the blockbuster film Jawan in 2023. The Maharaja actor took on the role of a deadly villain in the Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara starrer. Both Vijay Sethupathi and SRK have praised each other in various media interactions. In a pre-release event of Jawan in Chennai, the Vikram actor shared a story about how he couldn’t approach his school crush because she was a fan of Shah Rukh Khan.
Recalling the incident, Vijay Sethupathi said, “When I was in school, I had a crush on a girl who was in love with SRK. It has taken me all these years to get my revenge.” The Naanum Rowdy Dhaan actor entertained everyone with this amusing anecdote.
At the event, Shah Rukh Khan responded humorously to Vijay Sethupathi’s story. The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor joked, “I assume everyone who spoke in Tamil in front of me praised me, except Vijay Sethupathi. He was talking about girls and stuff. But Vijay, you can take revenge, but you can’t take my girls. They are mine.”
The audience at the event enjoyed the banter between the two talented actors. In a previous interview, Vijay Sethupathi had praised SRK as a very humble, down-to-earth, and supportive actor.
Jawan, directed by Atlee of Bigil fame, follows the story of a man seeking revenge for the injustices in society. The film explores his battle against a ruthless criminal who has caused immense suffering to innocent people. Apart from SRK and Sethupathi, Jawan features Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Deepika Padukone, Riddhi Dogra, and others in key roles.
