“The Family Man directors Raj and DK recount adapting Srikant Tiwari’s character for Manoj Bajpayee after meeting him”
Manoj Bajpayee, a versatile actor, started his career with small roles and eventually became a National Award-winning actor. He was awarded the Padma Shri for his outstanding contributions to art. In the popular spy action thriller series, The Family Man, he portrayed the role of a middle-class man, captivating the audience with his exceptional talent. Interestingly, the creators of the show, Raj & DK, had to make some adjustments to the character specifically for Manoj.
During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, filmmakers Raj & DK revealed that they don’t usually write characters with specific actors in mind. However, when they created the character of Srikant Tiwari for The Family Man, they considered casting Manoj Bajpayee for the role. Despite initially having a different vision for the character, they were convinced that Manoj was the perfect fit after meeting him.
Manoj Bajpayee recently celebrated his 100th film milestone with the release of his film Bhaiyya Ji in 2024. Reflecting on this achievement during an interview, he shared how filmmaker Apoorv Singh Karki informed him about reaching this significant mark in his career. Manoj expressed his gratitude for the journey and mentioned that he never imagined completing 100 films when he first started in the industry.
When asked about his inspiration to become an actor, Manoj recalled his childhood in a village in Bihar where he observed his father’s love for cinema. This early exposure to films ignited his passion for acting. Besides his film projects, Manoj was also featured in the TV series Killer Soup alongside Konkona Sen Sharma.
