Priyanka Chopra Shocked by Producer’s Prediction that She Would one Day Resemble Rekha, Despite Her ‘Conventional’ Beauty
Priyanka Chopra, currently busy shooting for her web series, Citadel: Season 2, began her acting journey in Indian cinema. Her Bollywood debut was in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in 2003, followed by the film Andaaz the same year, starring Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta. Producer Suneel Darshan, who worked on Andaaz, was surprised by Priyanka’s unique beauty and predicted her success in the industry, comparing her to veteran actress Rekha.
In a recent podcast with Friday Talkies, Darshan shared his first meeting with Priyanka regarding the casting of Andaaz. He mentioned that despite other women auditioning for a shorter role than Lara Dutta’s, Priyanka stood out and caught his attention.
Darshan recalled being impressed by Priyanka’s powerful voice and captivating eyes. He decided to cast her in the film, predicting her future success and even telling her that she would be like Rekha one day.
Directed by Raj Kanwar, Andaaz featured Akshay Kumar alongside newcomers Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta. Priyanka played the role of Jiya Singhania in the romantic-musical movie.
Currently, Priyanka is involved in Citadel: Season 2, as well as two Hollywood projects, The Bluff and Heads of State. In Bollywood, she is best known for her roles in films like Barfi, Bajirao Mastani, Aitraaz, Fashion, and Mary Kom.
