The Amal Neerad directorial Bougainvillea opened with an impressive Rs 6.90 crore at the box office, with a positive trend over the first weekend. Despite mixed reviews, the thriller drama managed to collect Rs 26.35 crore worldwide in its extended four-day opening weekend.
However, it struggled to maintain its momentum on Monday, grossing around Rs 1.30 crore with a steep 78% drop from the previous day, including Rs 75 lakh from Kerala alone. Bougainvillea has now reached a total gross of Rs 27.65 crore at the global box office.
Bougainvillea Needs To Pick Up Further To Put A Healthy Total
To achieve a healthier total, Bougainvillea should have ideally collected around Rs 3 crore on Monday. The substantial drop indicates a decrease in Amal Neerad’s brand value post the opening weekend. The movie needs to perform well in the coming days to secure a solid box office figure.
Despite being Neerad’s best-performing movie so far, Bougainvillea’s performance in the next few days will determine its trajectory. The movie is expected to reach around Rs 50 crore by the end of its theatrical run. While quality may have been lacking, the movie still has the potential to be considered a success, given a stronger word-of-mouth reception.
