Ariana Grande Shares Thoughts on Cynthia Erivo’s Critique of Wicked Poster
Ariana Grande acknowledges a shift in the creative realm.
The Wicked actress recently commented on how artificial intelligence has broadened the landscape of fan-made art. This was evident in a modified movie poster that Ariana’s colleague Cynthia Erivo criticized for replicating the original musical poster where Elphaba’s face is obscured in shadow.
Another AI-created movie poster depicting Ariana and Cynthia in a fight further fueled the controversy. Now, the “7 Rings” singer has contemplated the integration of AI into the fan art scene.
“I think it’s very complex because I sometimes find AI conflicting and problematic, but it’s a major period of adjustment,” she stated in an interview with Variety at the Academy Museum Gala on October 19. “This transcends us, and fans will enjoy creating their edits.”
Despite acknowledging that some art may cross a line, Ariana expressed, “I believe so. I hold my sister, Cynthia, in high regard and cherish her deeply. It’s simply a period of significant adjustment.”
