Eva Mendes to Only Star in Films Opposite Husband Ryan Gosling: “He Brings Out the Best in Me”
Eva Mendes would only return to the big screens if she gets to work with her husband, Ryan Gosling. After appearing in the 2012 crime/thriller The Place Beyond the Pines, Mendes took a step back from Hollywood to focus on her personal life and raising her two daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee.
During a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Mendes admitted that acting was not her passion. Despite working with great people, she never considered herself a great actress.
Although acting wasn’t her forte, Mendes cherishes the work she did with Gosling, stating that he brought out something in her that was previously inaccessible. She expressed her desire to work with him again whenever the opportunity arises.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Mendes explained her decision to take a break from acting after collaborating with Gosling. She felt it was a good time to focus on her personal life and be more present for her children.
Mendes also mentioned that the roles offered to her were stereotypical, which further fueled her decision to step back from acting. Apart from The Place Beyond the Pines, the couple worked together in Drunk History Christmas and Lost River, which was Gosling’s directorial debut.
Since becoming a mother, Mendes has focused on her business ventures, including a cleaning company and collaborations with eyewear brands. She also released her first children’s book.
