“Bound by Love: Bethany Joy Lenz’s Arrangement with “Cult” Leader’s Son”
Despite the challenges, Bethany shared that she felt empathy towards her ex-husband.
She expressed, “It’s really sad because he never really had a chance. He was raised by a narcissist and ended up in a marriage that wasn’t right for him. He was just trying his best.”
She added, “It was just a messy situation all around.”
While Bethany acknowledged that the marriage was not right for either of them, she found it difficult to be too negative about it, considering they have a wonderful daughter.
The Dexter star also delves into her experiences with a group in her upcoming memoir Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show (While Also in an Actual Cult), where she discusses how she got involved in the first place.
She revealed, “I had always been searching for a place where I belonged. It seemed normal at first, but then things changed. By the time it started to change, I was too deep in the relationships to see it.”
After about a decade, Bethany realized that something was not right with the community and made the decision to leave.
She explained, “The stakes were high. They were my only friends, and I was married into the group. My whole life revolved around it. Admitting I was wrong meant everything would fall apart.”
