The truth behind Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD: Oscar 2025 nomination revealed in THIS category
Kalki 2898 AD has been a blockbuster pan-Indian release in 2024, featuring top stars like Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and more. Rumors suggested it may be nominated for an Oscar in 2025, specifically for Best VFX, but these rumors are untrue.
The Hollywood Reporter’s list of potential nominees for the 2025 Oscars did not include Kalki 2898 AD in the top 26 contenders. If it does eventually make the final list, it won’t be announced until December.
Prior to this, the film was also considered for the 97th Academy Awards but lost out to Laapata Ladies. By August 2024, Kalki 2898 AD had grossed Rs. 980 crores worldwide, making it the fifth highest-grossing Indian film.
Credit for the movie’s success goes to Prabhas’ popularity and the stellar performances of Deepika Padukone, Rana Daggubati, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan. The film was released in theaters in June 2024 and later on OTT platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix.
