Justin Chambers Reveals Next Chapter Following Departure from Grey’s Anatomy
T.R. Knight portrayed the character of George O’Malley in the series.
In a heartbreaking moment in the series, at the end of season five, George was on his way to enlist as a trauma surgeon in the army when he saved a woman from being hit by a bus, only to be hit himself. He arrived at the hospital in critical condition, and no one recognized him until he used his finger to write his nickname, 007, in Meredith’s hand. Despite their efforts, he tragically passed away.
Following some challenging seasons off-screen, Knight expressed struggles with George’s storylines and the lack of screen time in season five. As a result, he requested to be released from his contract.
Knight made a return to Shondaland in 2017 with a role in The Catch and has also appeared in The Good Wife, 11.22.63, and Genius, among other shows. In 2019, he was part of The Bravest Knight and in 2020, he starred in the HBO Max series The Flight Attendant alongside Kaley Cuoco. Additionally, he made a guest appearance on Grey’s Anatomy for one episode to meet Meredith during her COVID-19 coma.
