Diddy Charged With Sex Trafficking & Racketeering
After being arrested based on a sealed indictment, the indictment was unsealed on Sept. 17.
The 54-year-old was accused of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, as well as transportation to engage in prostitution, as per court documents obtained by NBC News.
The indictment claimed that Combs “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his image, and conceal his actions” for over a decade, with prosecutors alleging that the behavior began around 2008.
“To achieve this,” the documents stated, “Combs relied on the employees, resources, and influence of the diverse business empire that he managed and controlled—creating a criminal organization whose members and associates committed, or attempted to commit, various crimes, including sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.”
As reported by NBC News, Combs pleaded not guilty and was refused bail.
“He’s going to fight this with all of his energy and all of his might,” his lawyer Marc Agnifilo expressed to reporters outside the courthouse before the arraignment, “and the complete confidence of his legal team.”
