Kartik Aaryan Exclusively Reveals the Impact of “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety” on His Career: ‘From the Title Announcement Onwards…’
Kartik Aaryan made his Bollywood debut with Pyaar Ka Punchnama. However, it was seven years later with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that he truly made a mark in his career. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Kartik explained how his monologues in Pyaar Ka Punchnama and its sequel gained him popularity, even though people didn’t know his name initially.
His role in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, alongside Sunny Singh and Nushrratt Bharuccha, brought him fame, success, and opened new doors for his career.
Kartik Aaryan recently appeared on Pinkvilla Masterclass at IFP Season 14, where he was asked if he ever tried to break away from his image as the ‘monologue guy.’ He shared, “I didn’t feel the need to break that image. I liked the fact that people gave me those long dialogues to say and perform, it’s just that nobody knew my name back then, that was the only thing.”
With the release of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety in 2018, Kartik’s fate took a turn for the better. The film made him a household name, and people started recognizing him by his name.
Reflecting on the moment he first noticed the change, Kartik recalled, “I remember going to Gaiety cinema, I went on a Friday and then again on Sunday, and it was Housefull. That’s when people were shouting my name for the first time.”
Discussing the impact of the film, Kartik mentioned how the title announcement of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety created a unique buzz among the audience. The concept of bromance over romance was a refreshing change that resonated well with viewers.
The film altered the course of his career and put him in the spotlight. However, he received numerous offers for comedy films post the success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, and it took a few more projects like Freddy and Dhamaka to showcase his versatility as an actor.
Looking ahead, Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is set to release on November 1, 2024, and the trailer has already created a buzz on social media.
