Piyush Mishra from Gangs of Wasseypur shares his experience working with Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali in Rockstar and Tamasha, reminiscing about the iconic ‘malish wala scene’
Piyush Mishra delivered some iconic performances and songs to the Indian film industry. He had the opportunity to work with notable stars like Ranbir Kapoor. In a recent interview, the veteran artist shared his experiences of working with Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali in movies like Rockstar and Tamasha.
Actor, singer, lyricist, playwright, musician, screenwriter – Piyush Mishra has excelled in various roles throughout his extensive career. Currently embarking on his biggest India tour with his brand Ballimaaraan, Mishra also sat down for a conversation with Bollywood Hungama. During the interview, he talked about his personal and professional life, as well as his experience working with Imtiaz Ali in the romantic drama film Tamasha in 2015.
Mishra, known for his role in Gangs of Wasseypur, mentioned that he portrayed his character exactly as Ali had envisioned, doing multiple takes to get it right. He praised Ali’s unique filmmaking style, where he doesn’t do retakes but lets actors continue and chooses the best parts during editing. Mishra also mentioned the strong bond between Ranbir Kapoor, himself, and Ali, highlighting their collaboration on set.
He also shared his enjoyment of working with Imtiaz Ali on the award-winning movie Rockstar in 2011, mentioning an iconic scene from the film that he had suggested to Ali 20 years prior. Mishra reminisced about telling Ali about the scene while adapting Romeo and Juliet in Delhi.
Earlier this year, Mishra appeared alongside Pankaj Tripathi in Main Atal Hoon, while Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on Ramayana, scheduled for release during Diwali 2025.
