Did Al Pacino Feel Relief After Being Injured on The Godfather Sets? Actor Reveals Struggle During Making of Iconic Film

Al Pacino reflects on his time working on a pivotal film in his career, The Godfather. The experienced actor opened up about the challenges he faced while filming Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic movie in the early days.

During an interview on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, Pacino shared that he sustained an injury on set. Surprisingly, he saw it as a sign from the universe to take a break from the movie rather than feeling upset about it.

Furthermore, Pacino mentioned that he felt immense pressure from the director and production early on, which led him to contemplate leaving the film after getting hurt.

Describing a particular scene from the movie, Pacino recalled, “Well, you have to understand one thing, because after I shoot these two guys—who I really loved, by the way—I shoot them and I’m running out and I sort of drop the gun and I go into the street and jump in a moving car.”

He humorously added that maybe the lack of a stuntman led to the assumption that he would get hurt and be written out of the film.

The movie received 10 Academy Award nominations and won 3, with Pacino earning a nomination for his role in the classic.
