The 2025 Critics Choice Awards Shift Networks to E! from The CW
The Critics Choice Awards has a new TV home.
The awards, which will mark their 30th anniversary in 2025, will air on E! on Jan. 10. The Critics Choice Association struck a new deal with the NBCUniversal-owned cable network after the past seven telecasts aired on The CW.
Chelsea Handler will serve as host for the 2025 ceremony, which is set to take place on Jan. 12 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Handler has hosted the past two Critics Choice Awards.
“We’re thrilled to be working with E! to present our landmark 30th annual Critics Choice Awards,” said Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association. “With the incredible Chelsea Handler returning as our host, we know this special 30th anniversary show is going to be our biggest and best show yet, and we couldn’t be more excited to be airing the show live on E! and available to stream on Peacock next day.”
The Critics Choice Awards are well-traveled across the TV landscape. E! aired the awards back in 2007, and following that VH1 took up the telecast for five years. After a two-year stint on The CW, A&E had the awards from 2015-17; they then returned to The CW starting in 2018.
“E!’s longstanding tradition being part of many of Hollywood’s biggest nights celebrating achievements across all of pop culture makes it the perfect home for the Critics Choice Awards,” said Jen Neal, executive vp live events and specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment. “With Chelsea returning to E! as host of the telecast, this award show will be one of the most anticipated events of the season, and we look forward to partnering with the CCA in honoring Hollywood’s biggest stars across film and television.”
Added Handler, “Returning for the third year to host the Critics Choice Awards has been made even sweeter knowing it will now air on E!. I feel like I’m returning to my birthplace.”
Nominations for the awards will be announced on Dec. 5 for TV categories and Dec. 12 for film.
