The stakes of Noah and Joanne’s romance are elevated by Noah’s role as a rabbi, while Erin’s husband Simon works in the entertainment industry. Erin has noticed similarities between her own life and the story she wrote for the screen.
In an interview published on Sept. 30, Erin explained, “It’s not always tangible things I can point to. The emotional journey is very true to my experience of meeting my husband.”
Similarly to Joanne’s contemplation in the show, Erin also had to consider converting to Judaism for Simon. Unlike Joanne in season one, Erin did decide to convert, although she carefully considered this decision.
