Following Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest, there have been conflicting reports between him and Nikki Garcia regarding the incident that led to Chigvintsev’s arrest on August 29, 2024. Both parties have filed for domestic violence restraining orders against each other, with Garcia being granted one on September 30, 2024, and Chigvintsev being granted one on October 4, 2024.
A hearing is scheduled for October 21, during which both parties will present their accounts of the incident. According to Garcia, the argument stemmed from Chigvintsev’s anger after being released from Dancing with the Stars, escalating over a trivial matter about their child’s English muffin. Chigvintsev, on the other hand, claimed that Garcia’s stress and communication issues fueled the argument.
During the altercation, Garcia threw Matteo’s sneakers at Chigvintsev, prompting him to remove himself and their child from the situation. Both parties have differing accounts of the events that unfolded, leading to the granting of restraining orders.
Despite the legal actions taken, County District Attorney Allison Haley announced on September 24 that no criminal charges would be filed against Chigvintsev in relation to the incident.
