Dolly Parton Donates 1 Million USD to Hurricane Helene Victims
Dolly Parton has donated $1 million to assist victims of Hurricane Helene, which affected her home state of Tennessee and 5 other states. Parton made the announcement while touring a Walmart in Newport on October 3rd. She shared that her businesses in East Tennessee are also raising funds for the affected region.
In a press conference, the Jolene singer expressed her sadness over the devastation caused by the hurricane, especially in Tennessee where she resides. Walmart, initially pledging $6 million, increased their donation to $10 million. Parton’s $1 million donation will go to the Mountain Ways Foundation, a disaster relief non-profit in the region.
Parton’s businesses, including Dollywood Parks & Resorts and Dolly Parton’s Stampede, will also support her donation. Walmart U.S. President and CEO John Furner commended Parton for her generosity, acknowledging the positive impact of her contribution.
Following Hurricane Helene’s devastation that claimed over 200 lives across multiple states, the focus on reconstruction efforts has intensified. Parton expressed her deep sorrow over the disaster and her determination to support the affected communities in their recovery.
