‘I do not fear the truth’

Garth Brooks is facing serious allegations in a lawsuit filed on Oct. 3 by a hairstylist/makeup artist who worked for him. The accusations include rape, sexual assault, and sexual abuse.

The 62-year-old country music star responded to the claims made by the plaintiff, known as “Jane Roe,” in a statement to Yahoo Entertainment. Brooks stated that he is not the person portrayed in the allegations.

In September, Brooks filed a lawsuit against the accuser anonymously, accusing her of attempted extortion and defamation.

Shortly after the lawsuit was filed, Brooks addressed his personal struggles in a social media post following his performance in Las Vegas.

What just happened?

On Oct. 3, the former employee filed a lawsuit against Brooks in the California Supreme Court in Los Angeles County. The plaintiff claimed that Brooks raped her, made unwanted sexual remarks, and engaged in inappropriate behavior throughout their working relationship.

The accuser also alleged that Brooks made explicit comments about having “threesomes” with her and his wife, Trisha Yearwood. The plaintiff stopped working for Brooks and moved to Mississippi in May 2021.

Brooks denied the allegations made by the plaintiff in a statement, expressing his belief in the legal process and denying the accusations against him.

The statement concluded with Brooks asserting that he is not the person depicted by the allegations.

A representative for Yearwood has not responded to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.

Roe’s allegations against Brooks

The plaintiff, a makeup and hair professional, detailed instances where Brooks behaved inappropriately towards her, including an incident in 2019 where she claims he attempted to perform sexual acts on her.

Roe also described instances of unwanted sexual advances, explicit texts, and harassment by Brooks. She stated that she felt trapped and abused during her interactions with him.

Brooks faces the lawsuit filed by Roe, and her lawyers commended her bravery in coming forward with her allegations.

Brooks sued Roe to block her lawsuit

Brooks also filed a lawsuit against Roe to prevent her from pursuing legal action against him. In his lawsuit, Brooks denied the allegations made by Roe and accused her of extortion and defamation.

Brooks stated that the allegations against him were false and damaging to his reputation, career, and personal life. He sought compensatory and punitive damages as a result of the lawsuit brought against him by Roe.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, Brooks continued with his performance in Las Vegas after the lawsuit was filed. He addressed the situation in a social media post, expressing gratitude to his fans for their support.
