Charli XCX to Appear in Benito Skinner’s New Amazon Comedy Show “Overcompensating”
Charli XCX is keeping busy with multiple projects! She will be making a guest appearance in Benito Skinner’s Prime Video comedy series Overcompensating and serving as its executive music producer. Skinner shared the news on his Instagram, and Amazon has also confirmed her casting.
Overcompensating, created by Benito Skinner, follows the story of Benny, a closeted ex-footballer homecoming king, and Carmen, a high school outcast trying to fit in. The series explores college life with fake IDs, parties, and plenty of vodka.
Skinner teased Charli’s role in the show on Instagram as he announced the conclusion of season 1. He mentioned her involvement not just in the music but also in acting.
The series touches on themes of authenticity and trying too hard to be someone you’re not. Skinner, Hill, Dines, and Goodwin handle the writing and production, while Charli XCX oversees the music. Overcompensating will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Additionally, Charli XCX will appear in the thriller I Want Your Sex directed by Gregg Araki and starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. She is also involved in David Lowery’s Mother Mary alongside Anne Hathaway.
She is set to star in 100 Nights of Hero with Emma Corrin and Maika Monroe, directed by Julia Jackman and based on the graphic novel by Isabel Greenberg. The film will feature Nicholas Galitzine.
Charli XCX’s recent album BRAT became a sensation in June, topping music charts and making waves in pop culture. She has also contributed to various soundtracks, including Barbie and The Fault in Our Stars.
