Kelly Rutherford from Gossip Girl Provides Update Following Custody Battle

Kelly Rutherford has left Manhattan for the Mediterranean.
After nearly a decade of a bitter custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Giersch, the Gossip Girl star moved to Monaco to be closer to their son Hermés, 17, and daughter Helena, 15. She recently opened up about her peaceful life abroad in an interview with Travel + Leisure magazine.
Rutherford explained, “It’s quite peaceful here, contrary to popular belief. It’s a place where you can come and simply enjoy the quiet.”
She went on to describe the winter in Monaco as “very quiet, private, and peaceful,” likening it to the change in atmosphere between the Hamptons in the summer and winter.
Her tranquil life includes a simple routine of walking the dogs, spending time with her children, and running errands. Occasionally, she attends gallery openings or similar events for a change of pace, but for the most part, it’s quiet time in Monaco for the 55-year-old actress.
