Shawn Mendes Opens Up About Painful Breakup With Camila Cabello
Shawn Mendes is not questioning why his relationship with Camila Cabello ultimately ended.
The pair rekindled their romance in 2023, two years after their initial breakup, only to separate again a few months later. Despite still caring for each other, they realize they may not be compatible as a couple.
“Love is important, but a partnership goes beyond love, it’s about how you support each other in daily life and being honest about who you are,” Mendes shared on the Jay Shetty Podcast on Sept. 30. “It’s crucial that your partner supports you without having to change themselves completely, and vice versa.”
Despite facing harsh criticism about their relationship, Mendes, 26, is thankful it didn’t tarnish the friendship he and Cabello have maintained.
“Camila and I have managed to keep our private love alive,” he stated. “It’s extremely challenging to ignore the impact of public opinions and not let it sway or affect us.”
